Fires is an examination of torching the Rohingya Muslims villages taken upon by Myanmar troops and Buddhist mobs in 2017, leading to permanent displacement of over 700,000 people. Refugee crisis started in 2015 had it’s culmination during the summer of 2017. Around 300 villages were destroyed by fire in the northern province of Rakhine. Refugee camp and makeshift settlements spread across Bangladesh border become the fastest growing in the world.

Visual material was taken both on site in Myanmar as well as extracted from amateur footage uploaded by survivors to popular streaming platforms like YouTube. Uploaded videos which appeared as hope and only chance to raise awareness of the humanitarian catastrophe received no recognition, hardly fetching any views on the social media channels. To these days Rohingya crisis having all altributes to be recognized as genocide stays widely unrecognized and ignored by western media.
